—— IN THIS ISSUE ——

Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill/ Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt/ Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench/ Care about people’s approval and you will be their prisoner / Do your work, and then step back. The only path to serenity.

GIVING
Every time you practice yoga, even if only for a few minutes, you receive a endless benefits in your body, mind and nervous system. increased flexibility, strength, circulation. However, did you also realize that your practice does not only benefit you? When you practice — you become more centered and relaxed, more present. When you are relaxed, people around you feel more relaxed. Your energy directly effects those around you; that’s just the way it is. Therefore, your practice benefits everyone you come into contact with. What a wonderful way to give this time of year!      back to top

THAI YOGA MASSAGE
I recently completed the level one training of THAI YOGA HEALING, with Jonas Westring. Wow, I LOVE this work! Many people describe it as “having yoga done to you.” You lie on the floor, in comfortable clothes and get fully stretched, rubbed, and opened in all those hard-to-open places. By the end of the session you feel like you have just come out of a magical savasana. But, what is it exactly? Traditional Thai Massage fluidly blends assisted yoga stretches; rhythmic deep-tissue compression; energy balancing through accupressure and Thai energy lines; meditation, and breath work. The work promotes deep relaxation and enhanced energy, fully rejuvenating the body and mind. It opens meridians; relieves pain and muscle tension; improves blood and lymph circulation; increases flexibility; and, balances the nervous system. For more information on Thai Yoga sessions with me call 201-377-7010. To read more about Traditional Thai Massage check out this web site: http://www.ancientmassage.com      back to top

RESTORATIVE YOGA
Restorative Yoga is a deeply healing and meditative experience that opens the body, melts away stress, and rejuvenates your entire being. In Restorative poses you are passive while your body is fully supported and held by props (i.e.: blankets, bolsters, pillows). When the body is fully supported you are able to let go more completely. Restorative yoga is great for everyone - ESPECIALLY this time of year! These resources could help you get started on a home practice: (all available at Amazon.com): VIDEO: 1. Yoga Journal’s Yoga Practice for Relaxation. 2. Living Yoga How to Use Yoga Props - Bolsters, Blankets, Pillows. BOOK: RELAX & RENEW - RESTFUL YOGA FOR STRESSFUL TIMES by Judith Lasater. THE INVITATION By Oriah Mountain Dreamer.
I haven’t read this book yet, but I loved this excerpt I read from it. Has anyone out there read it yet? Let us know your recommendations. “It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing. It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dreams, for the adventure of being alive. It doesn’t interest me what planets are squaring your moon. I want to know if you have touched the center of your own sorrow, if you have been opened by life’s betrayals or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain! I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it. I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own, if you can dance with wilderness and let the exctasy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, be realistic, or to remember the limitations of being human. It doesn’t interest me if the story you’re telling me is true. I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayal and not betray your own soul.     back to top
